Junkyard Band
Junkyard Band is a go-go band from Washington D.C. representing Barry Farms. Considered part of the second generation of go-go they got their start in the 80's. The name Junkyard was derived from them originally playing on whatever they could make into an instrument. Hit's include "Sardines", "All My Heart", "Ruff it Off", the "Hee-Haw", "Tiddy Balls" and others. Two of the most notable members of the band in the early and mid 80's were Steven "Buggs" Herrion (still performing) and Willy "Heavy One" Gaston (now deceased). Some of the current members are Wink (Vernell Powell), Buggs (Steven Herrion) KC, T- Bob, and House. Junkyard has been to many events and venues, some of which consist of the Capitals Centre in 1987, Martin's Crosswinds Ballroom, the 9:30 club, the IBEX, the Annex, and many others.
In memory of Willy Gaston, 1968- 1992. Considered by many to be one of the DMV's greatest gogo drummers. He was shot on a street corner in his home neighborhood, Barry Farms, in Washington D.C. 1992.
